What Can You Do About Sore Feet? Most people take their feet for granted, not realizing just how much pressure they have to bear every day. They are, perhaps, the most resilient part of your body, but they’re also the most pain sensitive. There are 26 different bones in the feet and several joints. There’s a section of the spine specifically dedicated to the feet.

Considering just how carelessly we use these appendages, with ill-fitting and heeled shoes, it’s hardly a surprise that sore feet are a common problem. While we at Family Chiropractic & Wellness have several treatments to address sore feet, there are some measures you to take at home to help.

  • The Shoes- Without a doubt, you need to focus on your shoes first. One of the best ways to address sore feet is to pick shoes that are gentle on your feet and fit well. If possible, avoid heels. Your feet are not really built to accommodate pencil heels. Ill-fitting shoes are one of the most common causes of sore feet and can also lead to other problems like swollen ankles, in-grown nails, etc.
  • Resting Your Feet- There are some jobs that require you to stand for hours on end and put pressure on your feet. It’s always a good idea to keep the weight off them for some time when you’re home. Constant pressure can strain the bones can cause serious damage if it’s not handled with care. So, when you return home or find a place to rest, keep your feet elevated for a while. This would ease the soreness a little.
  • Warm Soak and Massage- Soaking your feet in warm water is a great way to address soreness. You can add natural oils or salts into the water to get added benefit. You can also massage your feet gently at the end of the day. You can use coconut oil for this or any body oil. There are certain oils available in the market specifically for the feet.

Foot stretches and exercise is also a great way to elevate soreness from your feet. Your chiropractor can advice you on the matter and recommend the best foot exercises.
