What is Chiropractic Traction?

By August 27th, 2018No Comments

What is Chiropractic TractionLower back pain is one of the most common ailments in these times. Modern lifestyle, professional commitments, and lifestyle decisions are usually the cause of back pain and many people consume over-the-counter pain medication to handle the problem. OTCs and other such treatment methods may have a negative impact on your health and should be avoided if possible.

What is the Chiropractic Solution?

Chiropractors treat lower back pain quite often. In fact, most patients believe that its the only thing they can treat. That’s not the case, but lower back treatment is one of the most common chiropractic treatments and most experts use chiropractic traction to address the problem.

What is Chiropractic Traction?

Through this procedure, a chiropractor will apply pressure and weight to the patient’s back and use pulleys to gently stretch the spine. This slowly separates the vertebrae and releases the compressed nerves, which is the common cause of lower back pain. When the compacted nerves and muscles are stretched, they release pain and provide immediate relief. This treatment is used to address problems from herniated or bulging spinal discs.

Types

There are two different types of chiropractic traction and different experts approach the problem differently.

  • Manual Traction – As the name suggests, manual traction is done by hand and without much assistance from tools and pulleys. The chiropractor will manipulate the arms, legs, back, or head into several positions and apply the right amount of pressure to achieve chiropractic traction and stretch the spine.
  • Mechanical Traction – During this process, chiropractors will use pulleys and other such tools to make sure that the spine is aligned properly and the patients get pain relief. Pulleys are specifically designed for this purpose and won’t damage your spine in any way.
